8 hours for placement assignment
397 hours completed in the units.
Content scheduling
Placement is 10 weeks, 5 days/ week, 7,5-8hours/ day
The student should inform the unit immediately if they are sick and also the supervising teacher.
Further information
This study unit is for nursing students who have started their studies in autumn 2021 or later.
Objective
The student is able to
- describe the nurse’s responsibilities in the overall care of several patients*
- prioritise and manage their own work during a work shift
- find methods to manage challenging interactive situations in patient care and in the work community
- assess the development areas of their professional competence realistically and diversely based on the competence requirements for nurses
- recognise the workload factors of the work when starting to work as a nurse and find ways to reduce the workload**
- understand extensively spoken and written Finnish in nursing environment
- communicates fluently and spontaneously with patients and their significant others
The learning objectives have been modified starting on 1 January 2025:
*The verb 'assume' has been replaced with 'describe'
** 'during the transition phase' has been removed form the end of the sentence
